MP hails savings move

EDINBURGH West Liberal Democrat MP Mike Crockart has welcomed the UK government's confirmation that it will set up an independent scheme to pay compensation to Equitable Life policyholders.

He called the announcement a "massive relief" for the millions of people who lost up to half of their pensions and savings in the society's collapse.
