Mark Meechan: Man fined £800 for teaching his dog Nazi salute to stand in Scottish Parliament election

A man who hit the headlines after being fined for teaching his dog to salute when hearing ‘gas the jews’ and ‘sieg heil’ is reportedly standing in the Scottish Parliament elections.

Mark Meechan was fined £800 for teaching his partners dog to raise his paw in an imitation of a Nazi salute in response to racist and anti-Semitic words.

The Daily Record has reported that Mr Meechan will be running in the Motherwell and Wishaw constituency, contesting the currently held SNP seat.

The Scottish YouTuber will be running as part of the Scottish Libertarian Party.

In 2016, Mr Meechan posted a video to his You Tube blog called "M8 Yer Dugs A Nazi" which shows him with his partners dog Buddha performing the offensive act.

He was arrested and convicted of breaching the Communications Act.

In 2019, he announced he would stand for UKIP in the European Parliament elections, but was not successful.
