Loans to SNP top £500,000

THE SNP had outstanding loans of more than £500,000 at the end of 2011, newly released figures have revealed.

Electoral Commission figures for the final three months of 2011 showed that the Nationalists owed £509,503 to supporters who had lent the party cash for campaigning.

The UK Labour Party had nearly £10 million in outstanding loans. The UK Conservatives’ debt stood at almost £2.7m, and the Liberal Democrats’ debt was just under £400,000.
