David Martin and Catherine Stihler are the party’s lead candidates for the Euro elections next May, followed by Derek Munn, Katrina Murray, Asim Khan and Kirsty O’Brien.

Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont said: “Scottish Labour has a strong team selected by our members to fight the European elections next year. It is a welcome mix of experience and new ideas and shows the breadth of talent that exists within our party.

“I’m proud that we are leading the way in ensuring equal numbers of men and women on the list of candidates. Our team will fight hard for every vote and ensure that Scotland has a strong voice within the European Parliament.”

Ms Stihler, who has represented Labour in Europe since 1999, said: “I’d like to thank Labour members for their continued support over the past 14 years.

“I look forward to campaigning alongside David Martin and the other candidates. Between us we have a great deal of experience and a desire to fight for the rights of the people of Scotland at a European level, to build on Labour’s existing good work.

“We all look forward to engaging with voters from across the country in the coming months and hope we can rely on their support next May.”
