Labour MSP stands down

SCOTTISH Labour managers were last night looking for a new candidate to fight Dundee West next year after Kate Maclean, the sitting MSP, announced she was standing down from Holyrood.

Ms Maclean had already been selected to fight the seat she has represented since 1999, but in a letter to party members she said she had had "a change of heart".

Ms Maclean won the seat with a majority of just 1,000 in 2003 and the Nationalists will now feel they have a good chance of taking the seat from Labour.
