Kenyon Wright pledges to take half pay

CANON Kenyon Wright, who played a leading role in the pre-devolution Constitutional Convention, has pledged to accept only half of the MSPs’ current pay of £48,000 if he is elected to the Scottish Parliament.

As the Liberal Democrat candidate in Stirling, he says he would accept 24,000, the average wage in the district the constituency is in, and give the rest to charity. "Being an MSP is not meant to be a way of making money ... it should reflect the kind of pay most people have to live on," he said.
