Jim McColl considers Scotland move after Yes vote

ONE of Scotland’s wealthiest tycoons says he would consider moving back to the country if there was a vote for independence.

Jim McColl, the boss of engineering investment giant Clyde Blowers Capital, is a prominent backer of a Yes vote.

The business chief is currently based in Monaco and cannot vote in the referendum.

Mr McColl said: “I wouldn’t want to give up my home in Monaco, but I would consider moving back as a domicile, yes.”

Scotland would remain part of the UK “family of nations” in the event of a Yes vote, he said, but would gain control of key decisions affecting the economy.

He warned that the next year’s UK election could see a government elected whose policies do not meet the needs of Scotland. “The referendum in September is about whether we Scots want decisions affecting our lives made in Scotland or in Westminster,” he said.

“It’s not about a vote for the SNP.”
