During a Reclaim Party campaign visit in Scotland to support candidate Leo Kearse, the former Lewis star hit back at a comment made by Ms Davidson.
Writing for Unherd Magazine in April, the former Scottish Tory leader said: “Looking at the likes of Laurence Fox and the other multiple reincarnations of Nigel Farage, voters would be forgiven for wanting men of a certain age to deal with their midlife crisis by buying a sports car, rather than launching a new political party.”
Responding to the comment in Glasgow on Thursday, Mr Fox, who is running for Mayor of London said: “I think you should play the ball and not the man.
"Attack what I stand for. If you want to do an ad hominem attack and say ‘go buy yourself a sports car’, I’m like well, I’ve already got one, thanks.
"Sorry, Ruth.”
Mr Kearse added: “Yeah, why can’t you do both?”
"Also, when is Ruth going to be on Strictly Come Dancing?”
Mr Fox established the Reclaim Party last year as a means to “tackle the current threat towards freedom of speech” after facing backlash for sharing controversial views on social media.
During his visit to Glasgow, Mr Fox backed a political comedian, Mr Kearse, who is standing to repeal the SNP’s Hate Crime Bill in the Scottish Parliament.
Asked on what an actor and a comedian can bring to the political table, Mr Fox said: “We’re punters, we’re citizens and we're not professional politicians.
"We don’t want to be professional politicians. Look at what Sadiq Khan has done to London while he sits and does his woke virtue signalling while there are children dying every single day.
"Three in the last week have been stabbed to death and that’s families destroyed and ripped apart, so if you want to leave a professional politician in charge and you want blood in the rivers of London, go for it.”
