‘I have dyslexia which makes it more difficult’

Gareth Robertson, 20, left, was born in Edinburgh but spent his school years in Manchester. He has now returned to live in the capital where he is trying to find work.

“I’ve been unemployed since I left school,” he said. “It’s been hard to find a job because I haven’t had enough support from the job centre. It would be nice if they tried to find me a job just once, rather than expecting me to look all the time. They expect me to go on the internet and search, rather than showing me a list of available jobs.

“I have dyslexia which makes it more difficult and they give me no support for that either.”
