Hammond rushed into MoD role

LESS than an hour after Liam Fox left the Ministry of Defence in disgrace, Transport Secretary Philip Hammond walked through the front door of 10 Downing Street to be confirmed as his replacement.

Mr Hammond’s transport remit goes to Justine Greening, a rising star from the Treasury whose promotion will also help see off criticism of a lack of women members of the Cabinet.

Chloe Smith, who won the Norwich North by-election in 2009, is promoted from the whips office to replace Ms Greening.
