Further devolution questioned

A SENIOR Conservative has said further devolution “may not take place” despite an assurance by the Prime Minister that he is “open to looking at how the devolved settlement can be improved further”.

Holyrood’s Scotland Bill Committee met yesterday to discuss extra powers for the Scottish Parliament, which have been agreed without five of the six key demands set out by First Minister Alex Salmond.

Convener Linda Fabiani said David Cameron has “been talking about further devolution of powers” but ex-Tory leader David McLetchie said these changes “may or may not take place”.
