Ex-college head to give citizens advice

THE former principal of Jewel and Esk College has been appointed as the new chief executive of Citizens Advice Scotland.

Howard McKenzie, whose eight years at Jewel and Esk saw the multi-million pound refurbishment of both its Edinburgh and Midlothian campuses, will take up his post on 22 March.

He succeeds Kaliani Lyle, who has held the post since 1999.

Mr McKenzie, 54, became principal of Jewel and Esk College in 2001 and stepped down last year. He currently runs his own consultancy business. He is based in Livingston and will work from the main CAS office at Spectrum House in Edinburgh. Mr McKenzie said he was "thrilled" and added: "I am keen to get started and to make a difference."
