East Lothian MP faces deselection

LABOUR MP Anne Moffat faces deselection as her party's candidate for the general election today, as party bosses meet to decide her future following a rebellion by local activists.

Last month, party workers in her East Lothian seat voted overwhelmingly to have her removed as the Labour candidate. They were unhappy at her conduct and the size of her expenses claims.

The vote to reopen selection for the seat was expected to be considered by Labour's National Executive Committee, but is now understood to be on the agenda at a meeting of NEC office-bearers scheduled for today.
