PEOPLEBRODIES has announced a raft of new appointments from Biggart Baillie. Partner Elena Fry will strengthen the firm's health and safety and insurance team based in the Glasgow office. Meanwhile, David Allan and Catherine Feechan are also to join the firm, working in the corporate team.

• MACLAY Murray & Spens has strengthened its EU, competition and regulatory team, with a senior appointment in its London office. William Sprigge joins the firm from the Postal Services Commission, where he was legal director.

• HBJ Gateley Wareing has announced the recruitment of real estate lawyers Alastair Cowan and Simon Dawes from Dickson Minto. The pair will work in the firm's English property legal team.

LAW students at Aberdeen University have become only the second group in Scotland to launch their own journal to promote the law school.

The Aberdeen Student Law Review is written and edited by the students of the law school offering a platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students to submit essays and case notes on an area of law of their choice.

• TWO partners from Biggart Baillie are to travel to Hungary to take part in a 120 mile marathon around Lake Balaton to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Alan Strain, and Brent Haywood will take run for 30 miles each day for four days as part of the endurance event.
