Councillor keeps seat after count

THE count of a box of ballots that were missed during a council election has made no difference to the outcome, it has emerged.

The mistake in the Langside ward of Glasgow could have forced newly elected Green councillor Liam Hainey from his seat.

Returning officer George Black was granted permission at Glasgow Sheriff Court to rerun the count.

He told candidates that he was investigating how the mistake had been made and he apologised for any concern that it had caused.
