Council prescribes tablet computers

The Western Isles Council has become one of the first in Scotland to buy iPads for all its councillors and main officers.

The authority says the £16,400 cost of proving the technology to 31 councillors and ten others will be recouped by savings that result from the switch from print. Members are being given training on how to use the tablet computers.
