'Brexit is a clucking bad idea' - Glasgow pro-Europe campaigners dressed as chickens demand Boris Johnson's 'oven-ready deal'

Members of the pro-Europe group said there is likely going to be ‘no deal’ at the end of the transition period despite Boris Johnson’s “promise.”

Anti-Brexit activists were out in full swing this weekend dressed as chickens demanding where the Prime Minister’s “oven-ready deal” is.

Members of the pro-Europe group, Glasgow Loves EU, were demonstrating by Donald Dewar in Buchanan Street, Glasgow, on Saturday afternoon.

One activist said: “I don’t think people realise how serious this is – the government promised a deal, but this is looking less and less likely and they just seem to be focused on blaming the EU if negotiations break down. If we don’t have a deal there are really serious issues for medical supplies and food – especially in January when Britain can’t grow enough fresh food to feed itself”.

Another campaigner said: “What the government wants is for people like us to go away and shut up.

"We won’t do that – the government has made promises and we must hold their feet to the fire. With threats to supplies of medicines and food, and even clean water, they are playing with people’s lives - we have to make sure people know what’s going on and what the risks of no deal really are.”

Protesters were dressed in chicken masks holding placards saying “where is your oven-ready deal” and “Brexit is a clucking bad idea.”
