Boris Johnson discharged from hospital but won't immediately resume PM role

Boris Johnson has been discharged from hospital but won't immediately return to work, a spokesperson for No. 10 has confirmed.

A No10 spokesman said: “The Prime Minister has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery, at Chequers.

“On the advice of his medical team, the PM will not be immediately returning to work. He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas’ for the brilliant care he has received.

The Prime Minister has spent a week in hospital receiving treatment for coronavirus at St Thomas' Hospital in London since Sunday (5th April) – 10 days after testing positive for the virus.

He was moved to the intensive care unit on Tuesday after his symptoms worsened.

He was receiving "standard oxygen treatment" in intensive care but had not been on a ventilator.
