Anti-mask protesters in Edinburgh stage march outside Holyrood

About 400 people have responded to the event which is due to take place from 12.30pm today.

Hundreds have turned up for an anti-mask demonstration outside Edinburgh’s parliament building this weekend.

The group Saving Scotland, a “grassroots health movement” is organising the event which is aimed at protesting mandatory face covering rule and putting an end to lockdown.

The "short symbolic march" is taking place outside Holyrood, near the foot of Arthur’s Seat, from 12.30pm today, Saturday 5 September.

It is estimated about 500 to 600 people are in attendance.

Speeches from Irish professor Dolores Cahil and Dr Malcolm Kendrick, from Scotland, are planned for the afternoon along with contributions from the group’s members.

A post promoting the event on the Saving Scotland Facebook page says: "Time to stand up together, and listen to real scientific evidence in regards to the health of the Scottish people.

"This evidence is being buried by MSM, Big Pharma and more than a few politicians.

"Lockdown is causing more harm than the virus. We stand for the freedom to choose.”

"No to mandatory vaccines and masks.

"No to secondary lockdowns.

"We are a large group of concerned individuals that realise the damage this can do to our children, the economy etc.”

So far the total number of positive cases in Scotland has reached 21,048, according to the latest government statistics which were released yesterday afternoon.

The amount of people who have died after contracting Covid-19 is 2,496.
