Afghan chief joins talk on troops' role

THE leader of Scotland's Afghan community will join Scottish Socialist Party leader Colin Fox at a public meeting in Gilmerton tonight, calling for British soldiers to be brought home from Afghanistan.

Mohammad Asif, chairman of the Scottish Afghan Society, will also talk about Afghans' concerns over Nato's planned offensive in Kandahar at the end of this month.

The meeting is in Gilmerton Community Centre at 7:30pm.
