Political pair to seek election

A POLITICAL couple have been chosen to fight for separate seats at next year's Scottish parliamentary elections.

Highlands and Islands MSP David Stewart and his wife Linda were unanimously selected to stand for Labour in the new constituencies of Inverness and Nairn, and Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch.

Mr Stewart stood in five consecutive general elections from 1987 to 2005 and was the first Labour MP for Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber in 1997. Since 2007, he has been a member of the Scottish Parliament.

Mrs Stewart is a member of Labour's Scottish Executive Committee.
