Policeman wounded in eviction shooting

Swiss police were last night searching the city of Biel for a gunman who fired several shots at officers, wounding one, following a row over the forced sale of his home.

The unnamed 67-year-old suspect barricaded himself inside the house and fired at police with a rifle, Bern regional police said.

The wounded officer was in a stable condition after emergency surgery last night.
