Policeman, wife and son in court on drug charges

A POLICE officer, his wife and son have appeared on court on drug offences.

Derek McLeod, 41 from Breich in West Lothian appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday on drugs charges as well as charged under the Official Secrets Act and Proceeds of Crime Act.

He appeared in private before Sheriff Derrick McIntyre.

He was charged with a breach of the Official Secrets Act. It is alleged that between 3 June, 2009, and 12 May this year at West Calder police station he disclosed information without lawful authority.

He was also charged with being concerned in the supply and production of cannabis resin and being in possession of criminal property, namely a quantity of money.

There was no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further inquiry. McLeod was remanded in custody.

His wife, Jemima, 41, and son Derek, 21, also appeared before Sheriff McIntyre.

They were charged with being involved in the supply and production of cannabis resin.

The pair also faced charges under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

No pleas or declarations were made and their cases were continued for further inquiries.

McLeod's wife and son were both were released on bail.
