Police warn of chocolate scam

POLICE are warning of a bizarre scam in which thieves accost passers-by and claim they have a chocolate stain on their clothing, and offer to help remove it.

Victims who have fallen for the ruse have discovered afterwards that their money has been stolen.

Thieves have been targeting unsuspecting shoppers as they leave banks or building society branches.

Police in Bedfordshire said one victim was an 82-year-old man.

They have released CCTV images of several people they want to speak to in connection with the scam.
