Police to question drivers over man found dead on road

POLICE will question drivers today as they try to piece together the last movements of a teenager who was found dead with serious head injuries.

They believe Dean Geary, 19, may have been the victim of a hit-and-run or an assault before he was found dead by the side of the road in Stirlingshire.

Police officers will be stopping motorists on the A811 near Drymen to jog their memories about the incident last Sunday morning.

A passing motorist found the body 500 yards from the junction of the A811 and the A809 near to Corrieven Boarding Kennels at 5.30am. A man fitting Geary's description was seen walking along the road at various points between Gartocharn and Drymen shortly before.

Det Chief Insp Willie Cravens said: "We are still trying to piece together his last movements. A number of possible causes as to how Dean sustained serious head injuries, including being struck by a vehicle or assaulted, are being investigated."

He also urged local residents to consider if somebody has knocked on their door during the early hours of last Sunday morning. Anyone with information should contact Central Scotland Police on 01786 456 000.
