Police study CCTV after fall death

POLICE are still working to establish the “full circumstances” surrounding the death of a man who plunged 20 feet after falling through a roof while being pursued by officers.

Father-of-two Ian Ross was chased by police through streets and gardens following a fight at Robertson’s Bar in Gorgie Road on Sunday night.

The 31-year-old fell through a plastic skylight on the roof of a nearby garage.

A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death, including reports of an earlier altercation at a licensed premise on Gorgie Road.”

Mr Ross was thought to have been among Hearts fans drinking at the pub following the derby draw with Hibs. It was revealed that staff in the pub pressed a “panic button” after troubled flared. Shortly after riot police, with shields and batons, burst into the bar. Police are studying CCTV tapes to see how the fracas started.
