Police seize £32K of stolen goods

Five men have been arrested after about £32,000 worth of stolen goods was recovered by police.

Lothian and Borders Police said alcohol, paintings and jewellery were seized from a property in Edinburgh’s Ferry Road.

All of the items are understood to have been lined up to be sold online and at high street pawnbrokers.

The intelligence-led search, which took place yesterday, follows eight separate high-value thefts during housebreakings in the city at Riverside Road, Wester Coates Avenue, Wilton Road, Morningside Place, Gardiner Grove, Thirlestane Road, Braid Hills Approach and East Saville Road.

The men, aged 51, 24, 25, 22 and 28, are expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
