Police seek bicycle crash witnesses

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was hurt when he collided with a car.

The incident, last Thursday afternoon on Main Street in Winchburgh, left the 42-year-old rider with a broken shoulder blade.

The vehicle knocked the rider from his bike after turning into Niddry Road. It did not stop at the scene. Police described it as a blue hatchback with roof rails.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area about 2pm on Thursday afternoon. It may well be that the driver of the vehicle was unaware that they had collided with the cyclist, and so we would urge them to come forward themselves."

Anyone with information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131-311 3131 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111.
