A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Susan was last seen by a family member at her home address on Wednesday evening.”

Inspector Jackie Craig, who is leading the search, said: “It is out of character for Susan to go missing and we are becoming increasingly anxious to trace her. I would appeal for her to get in touch either with us or with a family member to confirm that she is safe and well.

“Similarly, we would encourage anyone who may have seen her either overnight or today to contact us urgently by calling 101.”
