MEMBERS of the public are being warned not to approach a convicted drug dealer who went missing after his release from prison.

He was released on licence and a warrant has been issued for his immediate recall to custody.

Detectives said Brown is known to have travelled to King's Cross Station in London, and may be in Luton.

In 2008, Brown was jailed for kidnapping a young woman and threatening to cut off her breast. He also threatened to set her nine-year-old son on fire.

Brown, known as Dre after the rapper Dr Dre, was also convicted of supplying heroin and cocaine in Edinburgh and was at one stage detained in a high-security psychiatric hospital.

He is black, about 5ft 9in tall, with short dreadlocks, a stocky build and two gold front teeth. He has a number of tattoos, including one on his left hand which bears the statement "Done one".

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "He is considered to pose a potential high risk of violence to members of the public and this risk may be heightened in a deteriorating medical state."
