Police return to A9 for vital clues to girl's death

POLICE officers who returned to the scene of a horrific accident in which a teenage schoolgirl was killed have uncovered potentially vital new evidence in their investigation into her death, it was revealed yesterday.

Elli Williams, 16, a pupil at Morrison's Academy in Crieff, died on the southbound carriageway of the A9 near her home in Auchterarder shortly after 10pm on 4 January, after being struck by a number of vehicles on the busy route.

Tayside Police officers went to the accident scene on Tuesday night - exactly seven days after the teenager's death - to interview passing motorists. The emergency services closed the dual carriageway in both directions while crash investigators worked at the scene and carried out roadside checks between 9pm and 11pm.
