Police raid Glasgow cannabis factory

STRATHCLYDE police have uncovered a large-scale cannabis factory in the Cardonald area of Glasgow.

The force announced today that it had seized 500 cannabis plants alongside a quantity of resin with a street value of 100,000.

The raid on the Berwick Drive property is part of Operation League, a national campaign led by Strathclyde Police to target organised criminals from south-east Asia who may be involved in the large-scale cultivation of cannabis in Scotland.

Detective Superintendent Alan Buchanan said the discovery "illustrates once again that this type of criminality is happening on people's doorsteps".

He added: "I'm sure people will be surprised that this type of property is being used for criminal activity, let alone being turned into large-scale cannabis cultivation sites.

"I would caution landlords to be more vigilant in checking who it is renting out their properties and what activity is being carried out there."
