Police probe Glasgow man’s ‘unexplained’ death

POLICE are trying to discover the identity of a man who died after he was found lying injured on a pavement.

The man was found with head injuries in Cumbernauld Road in the Riddrie area of Glasgow at about 9.30pm yesterday.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but died on the way to hospital.

His death is being treated as unexplained pending a post-mortem examination.

He is described as white, believed to be in his 50s or 60s with a shaven head, and was wearing a dark pinstripe suit, white shirt and black shoes.

Detective Chief Inspector Laura McLuckie said: “We need to find out who this man is and how he came about his injuries.

“We will be reviewing CCTV images in an effort to try and piece together the man’s movements prior to him being found in Cumbernauld Road.

“If you recognise the description or if you have any information or knowledge as to the man’s identity or what may have happened to him, please do contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Forensic officers are carrying out a search of the area and officers are also gathering CCTV images from in and around the area.

Police will also carry out door-to-door inquiries over the course of the day.
