Police probe Drum Brae ‘gunshots’ report

A police operation is under way in Edinburgh after reports that shots were fired at a property.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in Drum Brae Terrace at around 11.30pm on Friday.

There are no reports of anyone having been injured as a result.

A man wearing a light top and black jogging bottoms was seen in the area, near woodland.

Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who heard or saw any suspicious activity, to contact them on 101.

Detective Inspector Allan O’Brien said: “We have a dedicated team in place to thoroughly investigate this dangerous and reckless act.

“Anyone who can assist in helping us trace the person responsible should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Chief Inspector Bob Paris said: “Drum Brae is a quiet area of Edinburgh and I would like to reassure the public that incidents like this are very rare.

“We will be stepping up high-visibility patrols in the area to offer community reassurance as well as carrying out door-to-door inquiries to speak with anyone who has information that can assist.”
