Police probe cliff campsite mystery

POLICE are probing a cliff top mystery after three tents with camping equipment were found abandoned in an area known as Elephant Rock on the east coast.

A salmon fisheries worker stumbled across the abandoned campsite and reported a tent equipped with a sleeping bag and food.

Two further tents have now been found between Lunan Bay and Ferryden, Montrose, in an area owned and used by Usan Salmon Fisheries.

The first tent is described as blue and grey, two-man dome style with a pillow within. The second tent is green and orange, two-man dome style and inside was a pink playboy duvet and a white fluffy cushion. Lying outside the tent was a black rain jacket

Tayside police believe that the condition of the equipment and the surrounding area suggest the campsite may have been in use for some time and are keen to hear from anyone with any further information.
