Police plea over house raid inquiry

POLICE are hunting thieves who stole jewellery and car keys from a house.

The home on Biggar Road, near Hillend, was raided sometime between 7am and 7pm on Thursday.

Two men were seen acting suspiciously in the area between noon and 1pm on the same day.

They are described as being white, in their early to mid 40s, with short dark hair and dark clothing. One of the men was 6ft tall and of medium build, the other was 5ft 8in tall and of heavy build.

A well-maintained black Ford transit van, with alloy wheels and red livery on the side, stopped near the property, and police are appealing for the driver to get in touch as a potential witness.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to get in touch."
