A post-mortem examination established that he had died as a result of being stabbed.

Police yesterday said they were keen to trace a man believed to have spoken to Mr Margery in the Main Street area of the town centre at about 3:30am.

Detective Chief Inspector David Gailey said: "At this stage of the investigation, I believe that someone from the Stevenston community knows who is responsible for Scott's murder."
