Police officer facing court over claims of illegally accessing information
Chief Inspector Allison Strachan, 49, has been charged with one count of perverting the course of justice and five counts of breaching the Data Protection act.
Prosecutors claim Strachan accessed sensitive information from Lothian and Borders police computers between October 2006 and May 2010.
She was supposed to attend the city’s sheriff court this morning so her defence team could debate legal issues surrounding the allegations, but was not present in court as her lawyers had other business to attend to.
Sheriff Alistair Noble agreed to adjourn the hearing until next month.
