Police make a rail effort for Scots deaf and blind charity

TWO British Transport Police officers are set to abseil off the Forth Bridge to raise money for a leading charity.

Constable Donna Davanna and Constable Keith Jamieson will abseil 165ft from the bridge on Sunday as part of a fundraiser for Deafblind Scotland.

Ms Davanna, 32, said: "All donations are for a very worthwhile cause. Any donations would be gratefully received and I would also like to say a big thank you to all the people who have sponsored me so far."

Deafblind Scotland is the only Scottish charity whose sole focus is to serve adults living in the community who have lost, or are losing, both sight and hearing.

Drena O'Malley, resources manager of Deafblind Scotland, said: "People often forget some people have problems with both their sight and hearing, and that is why we are so delighted that Keith and Donna have chosen to support deafblind people."

So far the team has raised more than 1,000. Donate at www.just giving.com/KeithandDonnaBTP
