Police make Argyll Arcade robbery arrests

FIVE men have been arrested in connection with an alleged robbery at a Glasgow city centre jewellery arcade.

Four jewellery shops in Glasgow’s Argyll Arcade were targeted and a security guard was injured in the incident on September 24.

Police said the men, aged between 23 and 31, would be reported to the procurator fiscal.

It is understood two of the men are from the east of Scotland and three are from England.

The arcade houses more than 30 jewellers and diamond merchants.

The stores targeted during the alleged robbery were Rox, Mappin and Webb, Laing the Jeweller and Lewis Grant.

Members of the public captured video footage of the incident, which took place shortly before 1pm in the busy shopping area.
