Police make '11 promises'

POLICE chiefs were today set to unveil a list of "11 promises" aimed at boosting community confidence in the force.

The pledges, which form their "Community Commitment", includes making sure residents know who their local beat officers are, being visible and accessible in the local area, arranging regular community meetings, and working with the public to identify concerns.

Chief Constable David Strang said: "I relish the opportunity to work closer with communities."

The scheme was set to be launched at Pathhead Village Hall in Midlothian today.
