Police launch Muslim group

THE Lothian and Borders force has participated in the launch of the Scottish Police Muslim Association at its college in Tulliallan.

The SPMA is a new, national group, which has been created to provide a channel for information, training and direct support to police on issues relating to Islam and Muslim communities.

Superintendent Ian Strachan, from Lothian and Borders Police's safer communities, said: "The SPMA provides us with a good opportunity to enhance our relations with Muslim colleagues."
