Police launch investigation after baby drowns in bath at Lockerbie home

POLICE are investigating the death of a baby who drowned in a bath one week before his first birthday, it emerged today.

The parents of Neo Anderson were said to be distraught after the tragic death at their home in Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway.

Police are investigating but it is understood they are not treating the death as suspicious.

The baby died at the house in the town's Victoria Road on Wednesday evening, nine days before his first birthday on May 21.

A spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said today: "Early indications suggest that it was a suspected drowning but we are awaiting post-mortem results.

"The procurator fiscal has been notified and a post-mortem examination has been arranged.

"Police family liaison officers are working with the immediate family at this time in relation to this tragic event."
