POLICE are investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman in South Queensferry.

Forensic officers carried out an examination of a taped off area in High Street close to the Ferry Tap pub where the attack is believed to have taken place. It was reported locally that a woman was attacked there on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, police are urging a woman who they believe was trying to draw attention to herself from the back of a car to come forward and let them know she is safe.

The woman, thought to be in her 50s, was in the back seat of a blue or dark blue four-door hatchback at a set of traffic lights in the Grange area of Edinburgh, when she was spotted trying to attract attention from members of the public.

The car was stopped on Causewayside before turning on to Salisbury Place at around 7.25pm on Wednesday. A man was driving the car.
