Police launch hunt for schoolgirl, 14

Police have launched a search for a schoolgirl missing from her home since Friday.

Emma Jane Scott has not been seen since she got off a bus in Greenock on Friday evening.

The 14-year-old’s family and police were becoming “increasingly concerned” for her safety.

Police have spoken to her friends but so far no-one has heard from her.

They have also checked CCTV in the area, at train and bus stations, but there has been no sign of the schoolgirl.

She is described as white, 5ft 2in in height, of medium build and with brown hair – worn in a plaited style – and glasses. She was wearing jeans, a black and white McKenzie hooded top and black trainers with pink edging, and carrying a rucksack with a Spiderman emblem on it and a grey guitar case.

Inspector Alison Kennedy, from Strathclyde Police, said: “Her family are very worried about her. She is not in any trouble.

“We just want to make sure that she is OK.”
