Police issue appeal as murder hunt goes on

DETECTIVES in Glasgow are continuing a murder hunt in the city, after the body of a man was found in his home.

John McGinnity, 61, was found dead at his address in Shawholm Crescent, Pollokshaws on Thursday afternoon. A post mortem examination was carried out the following day and led police to launch the murder investigation.

Yesterday, Detective Chief Inspector Robbie Allan said: "Mr McGinnity suffered a violent attack within his home and I feel sure someone in the local community knows something about this incident. I would appeal to them, or anyone who may have information at all, to get in touch with us.

"We are currently in the process of trying to piece together Mr McGinnity's most recent movements prior to him being found. If anyone had any contact with him, or saw him, in the last week or so I would ask them to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency. It's possible someone may hold vital information which could assist us in identifying who carried out this vicious attack."
