Police investigating ‘suspicious incident’ at Perthshire school

TAYSIDE Police are investigating a “suspicious incident” involving a man at a primary school in Perthshire.

A force spokesman said: “Tayside Police officers in Perthshire are appealing for information to identify a man who caused alarm to an 11 year-old schoolgirl at Alyth Primary School at Wednesday lunchtime

“The girl had been in playing fields at the school and was just returning to classes at about 1.10pm when she became aware of a man seemingly called out to her from nearby Albert Street. She ignored him and ran back to school.”

He continued: “Once back at school she told staff what had happened and her parents and the police were contacted. The girl did exactly the right thing by ignoring the stranger and then immediately telling trusted adults what had happened.”

The spokesman added: “It’s possible there is an entirely innocent explanation for his actions, but police want to trace him so they can establish the full circumstances.”

The man being sought is described as being in his 40s, slim, six feet tall and has a deep voice and a local accent. At the time he wore dark jeans and a long black leather-look coat with the hood up.

The man is understood to have driven off in a bright blue-coloured ‘old-style’ car.
