Police investigate suspicious death of man, 33

Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man discovered early yesterday morning.

The body of the 33-year-old was found in Maxwell Street, Port Glasgow. Strathclyde Police said that a post-mortem examination would take place to establish the cause of death. However, officers are treating the death as suspicious.

Detective Inspector Colin Carey of Greenock CID appealed for information.

He said: “We are currently trying to establish how this man came about his injuries.The inquiry is still in the very early stages, however I would ask anyone who may have been in the area of Maxwell Street in the early hours of this morning to get in touch with officers at Greenock CID on 01475 492500.

“Alternatively, please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, where information can be passed anonymously.”
