Police investigate £100,000 vans blaze

A JOINT police and fire service investigation was launched yesterday after a blaze at a Dundee goods yard caused more than £100,000 worth of damage.

Five vans and a lorry were completely destroyed in the early morning blaze at Norscot Truck and Van in the city's Gourdie Industrial Estate.

Tayside Police are appealing for witnesses following the fire which broke out shortly after 2am yesterday.

A spokeswoman said: "Tayside Fire and Rescue and police attended at the scene and found that a number of vehicles parked within the yard there were well ablaze and had been destroyed or extensively damaged. The cost of the damage is expected to run well into six figures."

The vehicles destroyed in the blaze were five Mercedes sprinter vans and a 7.5 tonne MAN lorry.
