Police interview man over Aberdeen attack

DETECTIVES from the Aberdeen Division of Police Scotland are interviewing a man after the force released a photograph, taken from CCTV footage, of a man they are seeking to trace in connection with a sex attack in Aberdeen in January.

A 19 year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a flat in the Pittodrie area of the city on 13 January.

On Tuesday Police Scotland released CCTV footage of a man they said they would like to trace to assist with enquiries into the sexual assault in Aberdeen.

A force spokesman said today: “A man police wanted to speak to in relation to a sexual assault in Aberdeen, which occurred in January 2013, has been traced and is assisting the police with their enquiries.

“The media and public are thanked for their assistance in this matter.”

A spokesman for the Aberdeen Division said this afternoon: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 25 year-old man has been arrested in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in the Pittodrie area of Aberdeen on 13 January 2013.”
